There are a number of trails on public and private lands near the Flowage.
ATV’s and UTV’s are allowed on public lands on designated trails only.
There are ATV trails on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest property near the Flowage.
Please ride responsively and respect the property and rights of all landowners. Snowmobiles and ATVs are allowed on the ice of the Flowage, however, before venturing out ontothe ice make sure conditions are safe and you know where you are going.
Some areas are hazardous throughout the winter because currents under the ice and Fluctuating water levels can create unevenice conditions.
Stay on the marked trails. Please refer to the Sawyer County snowmobile trail map before snowmobiling on the property to determine those areas that are legal for snowmobile use.

The Chippewa Flowage was created in 1923. The damming of the Chippewa River joined the waters of 11 natural lakes, 9 rivers and countless streams. It is composed of over 15,000 acres of water with more than 140 islands. There are in excess of 200 miles of primarily wild shoreline which will never be more than 15% developed. Located in the heart of Sawyer County’s well developed snowmobile and ATV trail system, which offers riders and winter enthusiasts alike, over 600 miles of trails.
