Chippewa Flowage famous bogs are on the move again.
Thanks for the historic effort!
They can pop up anytime, they can stealthily float and change the landscape.
Periodically a bog will move in by the CC bridge and block navigation from the west side to the east side. With especially high water this week it was hoped a concerted effort with enough boats could move the bogs away from the bridge and make a safe navigation lane. A number of boats showed up at 9AM at The Landing by the bridge to give them a shove. The first bog took about 45 minutes to move then the second, larger bog was tackled. Push, Push, Push and no go!
Meanwhile the northwind brought back the first bog! Still, we are very grateful to all the volunteers, including the Treeland Pontoon with the grill, handing out hot cakes, and Tim Czub the guide helping to coordinate boats.
Thanks to the many resort owners, property owners and guests who contributed to the effort. While it may seem their efforts were in vain, the wind eventually shifted and the high water allowed even the big bog to move away from the bridge.
We will see what tomorrow brings.
