Lake Chippewa Begins to Open
For weeks the West Fork of the Chippewa River has slowly churned into open water. Each day the river is making it’s way a littler further toward Moore’s Bay. Just like Hay Creek and Moss Creek and countless places where rivers and streams feed into the Chippewa Flowage the channels open first.
Meanwhile, the rest of the remaining ice turns black, like a warning. Seeing open water makes it feel like spring is really coming. Check out how the bay opens up. Notice part of the sandbar, the rest is out of the frame to the left. Did you know there were stumps by the island too?
